Site details
Site description: Located in the western part of Beijing, on the southern slopes of the Yan Shan mountains. The IBA is isolated from human disturbance and protected from logging, and it has well-developed natural broadleaf forest, coniferous plantation, natural scrub and grassland. Vegetation cover is over 70%.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Vulpes vulpes, Mustela sibirica and Naemorhedus goral.
