Site details


Site description: Located in Xinyang County, east of the Tongbai Shan mountains and at the western end of the Dabie Shan mountains. Forest covers 2,859.8 ha, about 90% of the IBA.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Changnienia amoena and Emmenopterys henryi. Animals include Andrias davidianus, Panthera pardus, Lutra lutra, Viverra zibetha, Viverricula indica and Naemorhedus goral.
