Site details
Site description: Wanmulin Nature Reserve is located in Jian'ou City, in northern Fujian Province. The reserve lies in the south-eastern section of the Wuyi Shan mountains. The forest has been protected for over 640 years, and nature succession has led to the formation of subtropical broadleaf mixed forest.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Cinnamomum micranthum and Phoebe bournei. Animals include Python molurus, Macaca mulatta, Manis pentadactyla and Viverricula indica.
