Site details


Site description: This site is located on the east coast of Sumatra between Tanjung Selokan and Lampung province boundary.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: There is breeding colony of waterbirds in mangrove site which is located around 2 km from the coast line in dense fern of Acrosticum. Air survey on 1-2 September 1988 found:Around 300-400 nestsof 500 Milky Stork Myctera cinerea (including juveniles)30 Lesser Adjutant Leptoptilus javanicus60 Great Egret Egretta alba.
