Site details


Site description: Located around 43 km south-east of Kediri, it consists of 4 main mountains, Gunung Kawi (2651 m), Gunung Kelud (1731 m), Gunung Butak (2868 m) and Gunung Pitrang (2625 m) Anon 1989).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: Non-bird biodiversity: Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman 1997).
