Site description: The main characteristic of the delta is the river flow almost in straight line to the coastal area (Erftemeijer & Djuharsa 1988)
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)

Summary of habitats in KBA: Most of area is salt ponds (Anon 1993), and the rest is degradated mangrove forest and sand dune (Whitten et.al.1996).
