Site details
Site description: Located around 40 km north of Denpasar. The topografy of this area consist of deep valleys, slopes and three crater lakes including Danau Bratan. No less than 1/3 of Bali's hot spring found in this area. Batukaru is one of the five highest mountain in Bali, three of them above of 2000 m (Whitten et.al.1996).
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
