Site description: The site consists of a wide valley dominated by pastures, some dehesas and a mountainous area with cliffs, scrub and maquis. Human activities include agriculture, livestock-grazing, lead mining and game hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: This is an important site for upland birds, particularly raptors, and steppic species.
