Site description: This site comprises a reservoir surrounded by dehesa, non-irrigated arable land and grassland. There is a wooded island in the reservoir. The main human activities are livestock-grazing and hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: The site is important for post-breeding Ciconia nigra, breeding herons and wintering Grus grus.

Summary of threats to biodiversity at KBA: The major threat to the site is from agricultural intensification, in particular an increase in the area of irrigated crops. An irrigation scheme threatens a wooded island in the reservoir used by breeding birds. Disturbance is also a threat.
