Site details

Site description: The singularity of this IBA is given by the degree to which it is covered by forests and the number of rocky formations that together create a unique landscape with a wide spectrum of biotopes - wet lowlands and dry and temperate uplands; deep gorges with wet alpine microclimate; streams, ponds and wetlands; and also quite varied farmland. This means that the area hosts alpine and temperate species as close neighbours. The never-freezing stream of the Labe river is important as well - it serves as wintering site and migration stopover for many species.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
