Site details
Site description: Parts of two natural meandering rivers Rakupe and its tributary Pace, with wet floodplain meadows, with scattered and park-like broadleaved tree stands, lined with mixed and coniferous forests along their valleys. The southwest part includes predominantly wet pine forest and a small raised bog. New IBA, listed for the first time after the Emerald project. Fully protected: there is a 99.7% overlap with two restricted nature reserves Pace meadows and Rakupe valley, both candidate SPAs
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
