Site description: Carite is located in the central eastern area of ​​Puerto Rico in the municipalities of Caguas, San Lorenzo, Yabucoa, Patillas, Cayey and Guayama. The main threats to this site are habitat loss, invasive species, infrastructure development in surrounding areas, and human disturbance.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site contains the last known location where Eleutherodactylus jasperi was observed. Four amphibians meet A1a/B1/B2 and an additional four amphibians, 17 birds and four plants meet legacy KBA criteria.
