Site description: A bay with mudflats, saltmarshes, dunes, sand and shingle-beaches and a lagoon.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: The site is of international importance for wintering and migrating waterbirds, particularly waders. The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds in winter (including Branta bernicla 2,550; Fulica atra 2,396; Calidris alpina 9,180; Larus ridibundus 10,000 individuals).
