Site details
Site description: The area consists of two large carp fishpond complexes with well developed emergent and floating vegetation and wet pedunculate oak forests stretching from Cadavacki lug to Koska. The fishponds are important breeding areas for Whiskered Tern, Night Heron and Purple Heron and forests for Middle Spotted Woodpecker. Main threats are possible loss of carp fishponds due to abandonment of fish production, changes of water level in wet forests due to drainage, intensified forest management and excessive or illegal hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: 2016-06-20 (BL Secretariat): The three year-2000 IBAs Ribnjaci kod Nasicke Breznice / Nasicka Breznica fish-ponds (SitRecID 3613), Poplavne sume hrasta luznjaka izmedju Podravske Slatine i Vuke / Alluvial forests from Podravska Slatina to Vuka (SitRecID 3615) and Ribnjaci Grudnjak / Grudnjak fish-ponds (SitRecID 3612) have been merged in 2005 to form the IBA (proposed SPA) Ribnjaci Grudnjak i Nasicki ribnjak s kompleksom luznjakovih suma / Grudnjak and Nasicki fishpond complexes (SitRecID 24019). Area changed from 20578 ha to 20751 ha, as part of 2010 revision of IBAs/proposed SPAs.
