Site details
Site description: This lowland area in eastern Slavonia is covered with alluvial oak forests. The site is important for nesting of forest birds of prey and Black Stork. Pastures are very scarce, which strongly limit numbers of breeding pairs for forest raptors feeding on the meadows such as Lesser Spotted Eagle. Main threats are intensified forest management and changes of water level in wet forests due to drainage.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: Area changed from 43014 ha to 43549 ha, as part of 2010 revision of IBAs/proposed SPAs.
