Site details
Site description: A Cambrian sandstone rock located 4.5 km off the west coast of Alderney. The site supports the smaller of two gannetries in the Channel Islands.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: First identified as part of Les Etacq and Ortac, Alderney in 1989; split into separate site in 1992; no significant boundary changes since then. Boundary is a circle of the right area at the site location as there are no underlying maps available.
