Site details

Site description: This site occurs in east-central Madagascar and contains one of the largest areas of rainforest in the country. The rich biodiversity in this area is threatened by deforestation.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: Boophis liami meets A1a/B1. Two birds, five invertebrates, and two plants meet legacy KBA criteria and need to be reassessed against the Global Standard.
Manageability of the site: This site was identified as a KBA/AZE during the 2015-2018 AZE project. Much of the KBA is covered by Corridor Ankeniheny Zahamena Reserve de ressource naturel (WDPAID: 352256). The site requires redelineation by a National Coordination Gorup to remove overlap with Ankeniheny Classified Forest.
Delineation rationale: This site was identified and delineated as a KBA/AZE during the 2015-2018 AZE project.
