Site details
Site description: Large exotic conifer plantations on former heathland with several streams. Some heathland remains and there is one small area (9.5 ha) of natural Quercus forest.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance because it meets one or more previously established criteria and thresholds for identifying sites of biodiversity importance (including Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas, Alliance for Zero Extinction sites, and Key Biodiversity Areas)
Additional biodiversity: The site holds high numbers of breeding raptors and woodpeckers. Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive breed at the site, including Pernis apivorus, Caprimulgus europaeus, Alcedo atthis, Dryocopus martius, Lullula arborea and Lanius collurio.
