Site details
Site description: A mosaic landscape of agricultural areas, broadleaved forest, conifer plantations, a raised bog, several lakes and beaches. Exact delimitation of the area is not possible.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: A migration bottleneck during both spring and autumn. Spring totals (raptors and cranes): 7,204 (1995), 19,179 (1996) and 10,109 (1997). Autumn (raptors): 21,802 (1994), 15,522 (1995) and 18,141 (1996). Numbers of migrating raptors are usually higher in autumn as Buteo buteo occurs in higher numbers, although most other species occur in lower numbers on autumn migration. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Haliaeetus albicilla (max. 12, passage).
