Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Delineation rationale: Boundary created in Google Earth, follows the coastline of Persfjorden except in the eastern bay. Northern border from Næringsodden to the small headland north of Lille Reinkalvvik. 2016-10-04 (Oddvar Heggoy): boundary extended west along the coast to Hamningberg, with size changing from 840 ha to 3414 ha.
