Site details
Site description: The least degraded part of Uzava river flood-plain comprising significant areas of natural meadows. The site is surrounded by forests, and borders a flood-plain considerably affected by canalisation and arable farming further downstream. Listed as an IBA since 2000 [2, 1]. Fully protected: there is a 100% overlap with the newly designated Uzavas augstece restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
