Site details

Site description: The site consists of a ca. 7 km stretch of the Daugava river above the Kegums hydroelectric power station. It is mostly covered by open deep water with several small islands and vegetated shallow coastal parts. Listed as an IBA since 2000 [2, 1]. Almost fully protected: there is a 97.5% overlap with the newly designated Daugava river near Kaibala restricted nature reserve, a candidate SPA.
