Site details
Site description: This lowland area is situated between rivers Odra and Sava. The most valuable parts of the area are extensive wet meadows, important for nesting of Corncrakes. Pedunculate oak forest is developed on the right bank of the river Odra. Other habitats are mosaic landscapes and willow and poplar forests. The main threats are changes of water level in wet forests due to drainage, intensifi ed forest management, changes in traditional farming, river canalization and excessive or illegal hunting.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
