Site details
Site description: Rambutyo is one of the Admiralty Islands in the Bismarck Archipelago, Papua New Guinea. The KBA covers the whole of the island. The centre of the island has a volcanic peak about 230 m in elevation. The main habitat is moist tropical and subtropical forest.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site holds the only known population of the Critically Endangered tree species, Syzygium rambutyense, and thus triggers the A1e criterion. It also includes a number of legacy trigger species - one mammal and six birds.
