Site details


Site description: The site comprises rocky cliffs, c.100 m in height, that stretch for nearly 1 km along a narrow gorge north of Beypazarý. Orchards are found along the river.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Additional biodiversity: The area is important for cliff-nesting species.
Delineation rationale: Area changed from 50 ha [in 1997/2000 IBA inventory] to 259 ha (Kiliç & Eken 2004).
