Site description: The habitat of Ceuta peninsula is partially degraded with exotic Eucalyptus and Pinus plantations. The city of Ceuta lies within the site.
Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that meets the thresholds for at least one criterion described in the Global Standard for the Identification of KBAs.
Additional biodiversity: The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where more than 20,000 storks and raptors regularly pass in spring and autumn, including (seasonal totals in brackets) Pernis apivorus (10,000-48,000 birds), Milvus migrans (10,000-20,000) and Circaetus gallicus (250-3,300).
