Delineation rationale: The KBA Pueblo Awajún is delineated to encompass the ecological characteristics of two trigger species, the delimitation follows the limits of the Awajún Community and was proposed by local specialists in a consultation workshop. To the northeast and east it is delimited by the departmental boundary between Loreto and San Martin. To the south, it follows a tributary of the Huascayacu River, excluding the towns of Pueblo Libre, Valle de La Consquista and Atumplaya. To the southwest, it excludes the towns and agricultural zones of Caserio de San Pedro and Yorongos and then follows the Mayo River, Cachiyacu River and Naranjillo River to later border the Alto Mayo Protected Forest Natural Protected Area.
