Site details

Rationale for qualifying as KBA: This site qualifies as a Key Biodiversity Area of international significance that was identified using previously established criteria and thresholds for the identification of Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) and for which available data indicate that it does not meet global KBA criteria and thresholds set out in the Global Standard.
Delineation rationale: 2008-09-18 (BL Secretariat): Area changed from 240 ha to 705 ha (following Iezekiel, Makris & Antoniou, 2004). 2009-08-17 (BL Secretariat): Area of 705 ha is still likely to be wrong; it needs to be verified (comment from BirdLife Cyprus).
